Communities in Movement: A recreation and physical activity plan for Antigonish County
On behalf of the Municipality of the County of Antigonish, we are so excited to present to you Communities in Movement: A Recreation and Physical Activity Plan for Antigonish County.
Communities in Movement reflects our continued passion to support and provide recreation and physical activity opportunities for all residents of Antigonish County. This plan will bring to life the Municipality’s vision for recreation.
Our work and passion is guided by the Shared Strategy for Advancing Recreation in Nova Scotia, which defines recreation as:
The experience that results from freely chosen participation in physical, social, intellectual, creative and spiritual pursuits that enhance individual and community well being.

We know many children and youth are wondering what their summer activities will look like this year. In the face of all the uncertainty and delays everyone is experiencing, we’re happy to have a little bit of positive news to share! Although our programming is currently postponed indefinitely, we are looking forward to the day we can gather for recreation and sport activities again. In the meantime, we’ve been cooperating on a big project and are excited to finally announce the Municipality is a proud sponsor of and partner organization with the brand new “Sport Hub” Antigonish.
This collaborative initiative has been in the works for many months. Though it has been modified from its original form somewhat in response to social distancing measures, the website part of Sport Hub is ready for you: http://mysporthub.ca/
Create a free account to be added to the newsletter list so you’ll be the first to know when community programming is back up and running and how you can use Sport Hub to register and manage your family’s schedule! If you have any questions about the Hub, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
On the advice of the Government of Nova Scotia and the Chief Public Health Officer, the Municipality of the County of Antigonish has implemented a work-from-home protocol for employees. All existing phone numbers and emails will be accessible during regular hours. Antigonish County Recreation programs and services have been suspended for the time being. Once we have the go ahead from the health authorities to resume activities, we will begin to do so. In the interim, we invite you to check our website and facebook page for important notices posted by our Municipal team. For up to date information on Covid-19 please refer to http://novascotia.ca/coronavirus for more details.
