Active Living

Active Living through recreation is essential to healthy human development and vibrant communities.  Antigonish County Recreation strives to develop recreation experiences and physical literacy with the foundation of participation and play in a wide variety of recreational pursuits during all stages of a rich and fulfilling life. (Shared Strategy for Advancing Recreation in Nova Scotia).

Antigonish County has endless resources to encourage its residents and visitors to live healthy and active lifestyles.  Our beautiful beaches, lakes, hiking trails, outdoor rinks, provincial parks, regional parks, green spaces and fields, arenas and several indoor facilities are there for you to explore!

Your active life may include a walk, hike, swim, bike, skate or take part in one of our many recreational community programs.  In addition, to get moving, you can borrow equipment from our Equipment Accessibility Program.  Whatever you choose to get moving, Antigonish County Recreation is here to help you in your pursuit of a healthy, active lifestyle!

Several community organizations and associations who operate independently of the Municipality offer countless active living, sport and recreational opportunities.
