Outdoor Spaces

Besides brick and mortar locations, there are many outdoor locations that are popular gathering places with people in Antigonish. Keppoch Mountain is a popular year round location. There are numerous hiking trails, mountain biking trails, a bike pump track, and a lodge. During the winter months, Keppoch is highly used for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. There are two provincially lifeguarded beaches in Antigonish County. The beaches are Pomquet provincial beach and Bayfield Provincial beach. These beaches are guarded from the end of June until the end of August. Fairmont Hiking Trail is 12 kilometers of well-marked trails, with 6 loops varying in difficulty, featuring spectacular views of Antigonish Harbour. While hiking you can expect to see old growth forest, brooks and abundant wildlife. This trail is suitable for the whole family.

There are also many baseball fields, soccer fields, and multi-use fields throughout Antigonish. There are both grass and turf fields available for use. The Antigonish Arena houses a NHL size ice surface and is one of the busiest arenas in the province.
